UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM IN GEOPHYSICS

The Undergraduate Program in Geophysics, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Mulawarman University, was established in 2018 and is currently the only geophysics program in East Kalimantan. It aims to meet the demand for geophysics professionals, particularly in natural resource management and disaster mitigation in tropical regions. To support this, academic activities are organized based on two main areas of expertise that serve as the foundation for learning and competence development.

The Exploration Geophysics field focuses on mining and petroleum industries, particularly through the application of geophysical methods to identify subsurface structures. Mastery of acquisition, processing, and data interpretation techniques plays an essential role in supporting exploration activities.

The Marine Geophysics or Oceanography field emphasizes the study of ocean dynamics and phenomena. Learning activities include oceanographic data processing, numerical modeling, and direct measurement techniques to understand the physical conditions of marine waters and their application in various sectors.
